Volunteering at the Library

Volunteering at a library
Would you like to volunteer at a library?
There are lots of ways you can get involved with the Library Service to help us support and extend our services. These include helping staff with the delivery of our home library service, supporting activities for adults such as reading groups, meeting and greeting customers, or helping with shelving.

Please check the Richmond upon Thames Council website for details of current volunteering opportunities.

What difference will you make?
Libraries lie at the heart of our communities. As a volunteer you will be part of an invaluable service, helping to spread knowledge and learning across the community. Our volunteers work in partnership with library staff to help enhance and improve our services.

How will volunteering benefit you?
Volunteering has a meaningful, positive impact on our community. And there are so many benefits for you too!

These are just some of the reasons for volunteering at the library:

  • Be part of and have a direct impact on your local community.
  • Learn and develop new skills.
  • Gain a sense of achievement and motivation.
  • Boost your career options.
  • Discover new interests and hobbies.
  • Live new experiences.
  • Meet new people.

Volunteering at the library is special as you will be helping others to discover the world of reading and writing and all the joys that come with it!
