Rating: Reviewed by: BRW BLOCKED, 05 Jun 2021I tend to avoid books that have been hyped – I don’t like the preconceived notion that I have to love it! I wasn’t sure how I felt about this one, but with a budding 13 year old feminist at home, I felt I should give it a go! It’s not a feminist manifesto though, don’t be put off. It is the masterful weaving of 12 stories, subtly linked, all from the viewpoint of various girls and women. I understand that the book is written without punctuation, I believe, and truthfully I don’t know how I’d have got on with that – but the audiobook available on Borrow Box is just incredible. The stories are brought to life with the wonderful voices, and that really enriched the whole book for me. I sometimes struggled to link the stories, but that didn’t really matter… each one is a gem!
