Eddie Peng stars in this Mandarin-language drama directed by Guan Hu. Lang (Peng) was once a stunt motorcyclist and musician before he was imprisoned for manslaughter. When he returns to his hometown on the outskirts of the Gobi desert after ten years in prison, he finds his alcoholic father struggling and his neighbours resentful of his return. Meanwhile, many residents have left and a large population of stray dogs remain, which the authorities want removed before the 2008 Olympics are held in Beijing. When Lang decides to seek the bounty on one particular wild black dog, he finds himself forever changed by the experience. The cast also includes Jia Zhangke and Tong Liya.
