Dora's health is deteriorating, she cannot walk. Grant Scott, her brother-in-law has set a deadline of next Tuesday for the payment of money to support Marion. The letter reads:'My Dear Chum,I have not heard from you to know what you will give me to keep Marion. I am to let my brother-in- law "Grant Scott" know, by "Tuesday" if you have sent to say what you will do. I have nearly been dead chum, and I cannot walk yet, but am getting better. I do not ask you for anything for myself, but for Marion. I want you to let me know by tomorrow night by letter or you or you can call yourself. I only want a few shillings a week as much as you think you can spare one. I am going to put her out to Nurse and am going into business again as soon as I am able to walk. I am going into Spiers & Ponds if I can get nothing else they would take me at once. And I must do something at once, by the end of this week. I must leave here. Hoping you will call tomorrow or send to say what you will give me for Marion. After tomorrow it will be out of my hands. It is not my fault I would never do anything against you. And as long as I live I will never hear anyone speak against you. No matter what happens you will be the same to me till I die.Good night Chum and God Bless you. From Dolly. The reason I send it home is that you will get it sooner.'
