Alice write to Charles about paying to support Marion. The letter reads:'Dear Sir,I am fully aware that Messrs Matthews & Co Solicitors have written you about 10 days ago. Today I have been requested to attend at their office where I have given all the information required. The case, I can assure you, shall be revealed, unless you settle it within a very short time. I now all my sisters facts, & I know that you are the father of little Marion - she is your child. The doctor at Richmond who attended my sister Dora, can be called as a witness, also a Mrs Joiner who was present when the child was born. & a Mrs Alexander where you took rooms for my sister after & where she stayed for some time. I have done all I can for my sister & your child. I can do no more. Marion has grown, a dear little girl. She is now turned 5 yrs of age. She aspires to go to school, where she has not yet been & also requires new clothing &___ , ____ & Marion have been living for some time with me (& before with our parents we can do no more. You have acted most cruely & never kept up the payments you signed to do, which is little enough if paid weekly & even monthly: you would never miss. We will see now what the law can do. You have never asked by my sister, most kindly & humbly, to give her something & settle the matter. You have treated her like a dog. I ____ deeply sore for your aged mother & should she wish for further information I shall call & see her myself before this matter is ended. Mr James is a gentleman who also knows all & I hear can easily be found. You can see your child Marion here if you wish at anytime but please let me know when you would be likely to call if you ever wish to.Yours truly,Alice Tintton.'
