The letter reads:'My Dear Chum,For the sake of our past come and see ___ . After I came for you _____ I had chloroform on finishing and ____ and a nurse with me ___ through this a girl. I almost bled to death now the flooding of blood is still bad and the great ___ is that I may ___ to death or Fever may get me. I have not slept for nights - for four nights and days I am just going to write this has caused me great pain and ___ . ____ some sacrifice and Father has been up. I owe no bills now. I have not much left. If I live to get over this I ask you chum to spare me a few shillings a week for Marion. Before God as I might die on the ___ I have not done any wrong apart from you. 4 months one week ago on a Sunday, Collins came here to tell me of the birth - at the Station Hotel. In a fearful struggle he over powered me. God knows he did Chum and that was the only time. Come and see me once to say good bye. I love you. Good night. Dolly.'
