These registers contain planning application forms that were created by people asking to add or alter drains and sewers to properties.
Generally, each application form contains: the name and address of the owner of the property; the name and address of the person or organisation carrying out the drainage work; the date the application form was filled in; and a plan of the property, showing the footprint of the property and the locations of the proposed drainage pipework.

These 11 volumes are a sub-set of a larger series of 47 volumes. Within the 47 volumes, each drainage plan has been given its own sequential number. However, there seem to be two sets of sequential numbers: one set in volumes 1 to 11 (dated 1878-1884), and then the numbering starts at 1 again from volume 12 onwards (dated 1889-1937). It is not known why there are two sets of numbers, or why there is a five year gap between the two sets. The two sets of numbers have been catalogued as two sub-series. Volumes 1 to 11 are in this sub-series. Volumes 12-47 can be found in MBT/D/1/2.
